One can't miss the fact that Christmas is fast approaching with countless adverts extolling us to part with our money on the latest gifts for friends and family, so that we can all appreciate the true value of the Christmas spirit. The management at North Cheshire NHS Trust will soon be sending out 300 cards of their own to their already demoralised staff. These cards will contain redundancy notices, giving their recipients their own annus horribilis. The job losses will mostly likely affect Halton hospital staff, as most of its wards are in the process of closing or have closed already, with all acute services moved over to the Warrington site. These job losses were deemed necessary as the management try to find £11 million to cover this year's projected debt. This is another example of how the Government's health reform policies have impacted the lives of local communities, with residents facing extended travel before they can receive medical attention.
