Nobel prize winner Sir James Black, amongst eminent clinical researchers have asked the NHS to abandon funding for alternative medicine, according to The Times. The signatories have written to all  chief executives of 476 NHS Trusts to demand that only evidence based therapies should be given free to patients.

With the recent climate of NHS deficit and contracture, forcing tens of thousands of job losses and bed closures, limiting access to life saving drugs. The doctors have asked for the NHS to use available funds for treatments that are based on solid evidence. It is estimated that Britain spends around £1.6 billion on alternative medicine.
