Possibility of over 1000 jobs to be lost through compulsory redundancies from
the University Hospital of North Staffordshire to balance its £15 million
deficit. 15 consultant jobs could be lost along with 167 beds from its
1300 beds facility. Chief Executive Antony Sumara said "This
is a very good hospital and it is through the tremendous efforts of staff that
we have hit our targets ".
If the staff have worked so hard to meet targets, why are they paying the
ultimate price for the failure of the administration in maintaining good fiscal
control?
