According to The Times, the NHS has reneged on its promise to provide
qualifying MS sufferers with appropriate treatment, even though the Department
of Health has claimed that the latest redundancies will not affect patient care.
One of the worst hit are those served by the University Hospital of North
Staffordshire NHS Trust which had been forced cut over 1000 jobs last week, even
though the DoH had claimed that will reduce costs by increased efficiency,
without affecting patient services.
Another example of how the DoH have refused to acknowledge that their
unrealistic policies are a detriment to the health of the nation. How can
patient services be maintained at an acceptable level when 15 consultants and
other front line medical staff along with 167 beds are lost?

According to The Times, more than a 1/3 of all hospitals and NHS Trusts are
unable to provide their staff with hot water, soap, alcohol rubs and other basic
hygiene requirements whenever they need them, according to a Health Care
Commission survey. The survey involved more than 200,000 staff, even though the
Government have used doctors as a scapegoat for their failure in preventing MRSA
and other hospital acquired infections. It would appear that the hospitals are
at fault for not providing the basic hygiene requirements. The Government may
have made preventing hospital-acquired infect a key priority, they have not
backed it up by delivering the goods to do so.

Possibility of over 1000 jobs to be lost through compulsory redundancies from
the University Hospital of North Staffordshire to balance its £15 million
deficit. 15 consultant jobs could be lost along with 167 beds from its
1300 beds facility. Chief Executive Antony Sumara said "This
is a very good hospital and it is through the tremendous efforts of staff that
we have hit our targets ".
If the staff have worked so hard to meet targets, why are they paying the
ultimate price for the failure of the administration in maintaining good fiscal
control?
